Bundan

This literarial Coffee & Beer place is Engaging and opened to the visitor at literary at The Museum of Modern Japanese Literature.

Bundan Coffee & Beer is located at The Museum of Modern Japanese Literature. The building is open to the public, not only as a cafe but also as a centre for visitors to experience the world of modern japanese literature. The concept behind the food menu takes its inspiration from famous Japanese novels, as well as a variety of books based in the surrounding area.

Yusuke has taken charge of the cafe area renovation, which gives new visitors and beginners an introduction to the novels. The design was simple and used familiar material to make unusual surfaces, such as wooden floors and massive book shelves; as Bundan 文壇 translates to the ‘literary world’ or ‘literary circles’ in Japanese.

About

Yusuke Seki are Japan based Design team.

Their approach to design challenges is to conceptualise and revaluate into irreplaceable design with new interpretations. His designs embrace simplicity and minimalism at first glance and his inspiration comes directly from aspects which already exist within the context: such as materials, location, histories; all gathered and represented through the formal design approach. The function is essential in his design but through his work he focuses on facts and phenomena from the environment, including the essential design methods from the past, passed through to the future.
